First of all, how does an anti-hail system work?
Grupo SPAG’s anti-hail system is based on the controlled generation of shockwaves (using a mixture of acetylene gas and oxygen), which are emitted by a conical element every 7 seconds.
This repetition of waves increases air resistance and thus, through friction, accelerates the natural process of hailstone melting, effectively reducing its size and impact.
Furthermore, to maximise its effectiveness, it is synchronised with a weather radar so that it activates automatically before the arrival of a storm with a likelihood of hail precipitation.
With this system, you can protect your crops continuously and without manual intervention, which is a great advantage for farmers.
Types of anti-hail systems
There are two types of anti-hail protection systems: fixed and portable.
Fixed anti-hail system
The fixed anti-hail system is installed at a precise point on the client’s premises, where it will remain immovable.
It is worth noting that the system protects up to 80 hectares and 1 km in diameter, so it should be placed in a strategic location to make the most of the protection area.
It consists of a conical element and two separate containers that are joined with fastening screws.
One container covers and protects the conical element itself, and the other houses the electronic panel, control panel, and acetylene gas rack, which is essential for the system’s operation.
To install a fixed anti-hail system, a foundation is needed beforehand, a structural base where the product will be set.
It is essential that the foundation is done properly to prevent sinking and other issues that could affect the proper functioning of the device.
Portable anti-hail system
The portable anti-hail system has the advantage of being able to be moved and implemented at different points on the client’s premises.
This allows for efficient and personalised protection, especially in areas with scattered or constantly changing crops.
It consists of a conical element and a single container. The element is placed on top of the container and folds over it when being transported.
In this case, no foundation is required.
